It felt like an eternity since the last time I when out for a lengthy hike. Life has been so busy as of late, but I just had to get out. That’s where Peach Hill Park in Poughkeepsie comes into play.
Right from the beginning, I could tell it was going to good day. One of the first sightings of the day was a swamp sparrow, a species I’ve only seen once before. I was able to get several good looks at him before he flew off.
The sightings only got better and better as the day went along.
Along the woods, I spotted a lone brown creeper shortly after the swamp sparrow sighting. Next, a northern harrier?! Then, a barred owl?!?! A great blue heron at the summit?! Pine siskins (with lots of photos)?! All of this and more were captured by my camera, of which you can see below.
It felt great to get out again, but I can’t promise weekly hikes like previous months. At least, not yet.
